Norwich Academy Try Out Engineering

Workshop

On Friday 20th May this year EAGIT opened its doors to students of the Norwich Academy to give them a chance to try their hand at various engineering tasks. This was a follow on from our widening participation invitation to various local community groups on the 23rd March this year (see related article on 'Widening Participation').

The four students and their accompanying teacher, Rashid Luqman, who arrived from the local Muslim centre (located on Bethel Street) were taken through various tasks associated with mechanical and electrical engineering. They were also given a demonstration showing the uses of instrumentation and technology in engineering.

The morning proved very popular with the students and teacher alike. It was undoubtedly successful in raising the profile of potential career routes which might previously have been overlooked by the four young men who attended.
