Three EAGIT nominees for the Norwich Big Skill Awards become finalists in their respective catergories

Three out of the four candidates nominated by EAGIT staff got through to the finals in their respective catergories and one of the nominated champions won their catergory.

The 3 nominees were: Dale Bartrum 14-16 catergory, Lintott Control Systems Ltd. Employer Commitment to Skills category, and Teresa Gibson who was nominated in the Learner Champion category.

Mum Teresa

Teresa Gibson won her category for the way in which she helps the Apprentices at Bespak UK over and above what is required by her job role.  Testimonies from Apprentices whome Teresa has worked with over the past few years formed part of the supporting evidence for this award.  Teresa is described by her apprentices with such comments  as, '...it's like having a mum at work', by Helen Bettinson ~ a former EAGIT apprentice who recently finished her engineering apprenticeship.  As well as this EAGIT staff felt that for Teresa, nothing was ever too much trouble when it concerned the Learners in her care.  She is extremley supportive and always keeps abreast of reviews so that she knows exactly where each apprentice is throughout their training.  If any have had any difficulties or issues then Teresa is first on-hand to help them through these and give support and guidance.

Dale in the 14-16 Category

Dale Bartrum, was nominated by Sharon Davies of EAGIT for the 14 to 16 category.  Dale has been at EAGIT for the past two years on a Young Apprenticeship scheme and since starting his training he has turned a corner in his attitude to school and life.  He felt that he previously lacked direction but has since embrased the EAGIT course and become a very useful potential engineer.  Dale was one of the two runner ups in the catergory who was highly commended.

Employer Commitment Award

A further highly commended award went to  the company Lintott Control Systems Ltd.  Lintott was nominated by Jamie Cooper from EAGIT for the Employer Commitment to Skills category.  Jim Pearce of Lintott represented the company at the big skill event to pick up the awarded certificate.  Lintott are a very pro-active company whose staff ensure a supportive environment for their apprentices to develop the skills necessary for the industry. They currently have 11 staff members who are on various programmes from apprenticeships to Train to Gain via EAGIT.  They also encourage all of their staff to carry on learning no matter at what stage of their career they are at.
